PhonePact

Family phone peace

Structure your teen helps build, instead of a war you cannot win.

The confiscation cycle fails for a reason worth understanding: control triggers reactance in exactly the brains built to resist it, and monitoring teaches concealment rather than moderation. A teen who knows every app is watched doesn't use less. They move, to a friend's device, a second account, a hidden profile. And on the day something genuinely frightening happens online, you want to be the first person they tell.

What works is a pact instead of a punishment: every person sets their own daily point, parents included; the household protects the same zones (dinner, bedrooms overnight); the family shares one fact rather than a surveillance feed; and anyone can renegotiate out loud without a lecture. That last clause is what keeps honest raises from becoming silent blowouts.

These eight guides run from the first conversation through the contract, the bedtime routine, and the harder question of your own phone use.

End the tech war. Start a family pact.

Everyone sets their own point, parents included. The family can see duration-only check-ins at that point and up to six later milestones, never apps or private messages. Structure your teen will actually sign.
