Privacy
Pacts keeps what it takes to make a pact between friends, and nothing about your phone.
What’s kept
- The pact: its name, rule, dates and what breaking it costs.
- The names people type, and each person’s drawn signature.
- The breaks people record, and each person’s choice when it ends.
- Your email, only if you choose to save your pacts to it.
Where it’s kept
Pacts are stored with Google Firebase in the United States, in a project of their own, separate from the PhonePact app. The first time you sign, Firebase gives you a guest account, so nobody needs a password. Saving to your email turns that into an account you can open on any phone. This browser also remembers your name, your sign-in, a copy of the pacts you’re in (so they open straight away), and your answer to the honesty question.
If the Pacts server can’t be reached, a pact travels inside its link instead (names, dates and the record, but not signatures) and lives in the browsers of the people in it.
Who can see it
Anyone with a pact’s link can open it and see everything on it: the names, signatures, dates and record. The links are long random codes, so share them only with the people in the pact. Your list of pacts is yours alone. So is your email: nobody in a pact sees it. The honesty question never leaves this browser.
What we don’t do
No ads, no analytics, no selling data, and no emails beyond the sign-in link you ask for. Pacts can’t read anything else on your phone.
Deleting
Whoever made a pact can delete it for everyone, with every signature and record in it. Anyone can take a pact off their own list. To erase anything else, like your signature on someone else’s pact or your email, write to support@getphonepact.com and we’ll remove it.
Everything else
Pacts is for people 13 and older. Fonts come from Google Fonts and the sign-in code from Google, so Google receives basic request details, like your IP address and browser, as it does on any site that uses them. This note covers Pacts; PhonePact’s full privacy policy covers the rest of getphonepact.com and the app.
